Home Wind Systems, with Outage Protection (Home.Sure)

Unlike the normal home wind systems, the Bergey HomeSure system includes batteries and special electronics (inverters) that can supply power to your home during a power outage.

When utility power is available these systems operate just like a regular home wind system.  They reduce your utility bills.

But when there is a power outage, a Home.Sure system will isolate your home from the utility grid and then begin powering your most important household lights and appliances.

In the way they work, the Home.Sure systems are similar to the UPS (Uninterruptible Power System) that homes and businesses use with their computers to ensure that electricity supply is not disrupted.

The amount of back-up power available depends on the battery capacity and the wind speeds at the time of the power outage.  A gas powered generator set can be added for greater (virtually limitless) back-up capacity.

Home.Sure systems should be set up to power your most important loads, such as the refrigerator, freezer, water pump, heater blowers, TV, lights, etc.).  They should not be used for air-conditioning or electric heat because of their high power draw.

Bergey Home.Sure systems are available in several sizes at costs ranging from ~ $10,000 to over $50,000, depending on the capacity.  Larger custom designed systems are available.

The economics of Home.Sure systems are less attractive than the GridTek systems, but they provide unique capabilities and they will normally pay for themselves in utility bill savings over a 20-30 year period.  To many, the peace of mind that comes with a Home.Sure system is priceless.
